Mr Mohammed and I are really excited about this football season as the attitude from all the players has been superb right from the 1st training session in September. I think this has been reflected in the effort that they have put into the friendly games that we have played so far this year!
Just to update you on our results so far this season:-
9/10/08 - Home to Woodlesford - 1st game Lost 3-1, 2nd game lost 0-1.
Both games were played in good spirits and I think we shocked Woodlesford with some outstanding team work. Callum Maundrill deservedly picked up player of the match for the 1st game with some superb 'cat like' saves!! Whilst Kyle Campy showed great resolve and perseverance to keep the defence solid in the 2nd game.
17/10/08 - Home to St Theresa's - 1st game drew 0-0, 2nd game won 1-0.
It seems that we are getting stronger after every game that we play! Natasha Brown earned player of the match for the 1st game and was like the Thames Barrier (nothing was going to leak through) in defence - She is now starting to play with confidence whilst the ball is at her feet (Showing why she has been selected to play for Leeds City Girls). In the 2nd game we managed our first victory of the season via a neatly deflected shot (from Joshua Clements' knee!!), but they all count and it was no more than Methley deserved. Two fine games and I'm sure the next game will be a cracker!!
We are due to play St Theresas' again before November 21st - This is the re-arranged 11 a-side Falkingham cup game which was originally scheduled for 17th Oct. The cup was redrawn after we had arranged the fixture and changed to an away game (a little fustrating but at least it meant that we didn't have to change our pitch size to 11 a-side for 1 game!!)
I am currently awaiting St Theresa's response to confirm when we can come to theirs to play the game. WATCH THIS SPACE!!
Thanks Mr M
