Outstanding netball news!!!

Only a couple of weeks ago we were informed that there was a netball championship occuring at Brigshaw High School. We were equally excited and scared at the prospect. We were excited as history has shown in recent years that we have a good record in netball events and nervous because the netball training hadn't started this year and we had only 7 days to find a team to play in the tournament!!!

Mrs Reynard & Mrs Ashby rallied hard over the 7 days and managed to assemble a team of 8 players. After a few stressful lunchtime training sessions Methley had a group of players which would, at least, proudly represent the school at Brigshaw!

The players that were chosen were - Joseph Plater, Joseph Brain, Joshua Clements, Chloe Campbell, Kodi Gledhill, Hannah Smith, Natasha Brown and Caitlin Bastow.

So off went the 8 players and a hopeful Mrs Reynard & Mrs Ashby to Brigshaw on the 20th October to play in the 'High 5' Tournament!

Much to the delight (and possibly surprise) of the teachers and parents who attended the tournament Methley started solidly and winning started to become a bit of a habit!! I wasn't at the tournament but the smile on Mrs Reynard's face said it all on Tuesday morning when she said to me that not only did they play superbly, they also won all 3 of their games and didn't concede a single goal!!!

This made them Boston Spa Area Champions and means that their dream will continue in the next round when we play other schools that have run their area finals!

I think the team deserves a big well done and they should be very proud of their achievements!!

We are all now looking forward to the next round of the competition. Watch this space for more information!!
