Super display at Brigshaw!

Just to update you the girls football team played admirably in the football tournament at Brigshaw! They managed to get all the way to the final and ended up coming 2nd overall. This is an immense achievement and they should all feel very proud of themselves. The most important thing for me was that they played with smiles on their faces and are keen to continue playing for the school in future games!!!
I will continue training in the new year & start to look at putting a 7 a-side team together to play other local teams!

Girls football

I am delighted to announce that Methley now have a girl's football team & they have been attending weekly training sessions on a Wednesday afternoon. I have to say how impressed I am with their enthusiasm and dedication to training and look forward to arranging some friendly matches against other schools in the near future!

We are entering our first competition at Brigshaw on Monday 8th December. The competition is 5 a-side and indoors. Methley will be taking 9 players and will be hoping to finally put our training into practise against other schools!!

We wish them all the best for the competition!!

Outstanding team play in the Falkingham Cup!

Methley embarked on the 2nd round of the Falkingham Cup game at Woodlesford on a wet and windy Tuesday night!
Every player played out of their skins and not only did themselves proud but also their school.
Methley football team seem to get stronger in every game that they play and this match was no exception. There were many examples of powerful defending, super dribbling, accurate passing and superb strikes at goal. However the strong team ethic and great attitude was not enough to win the game and Methley ran out losing 2-1.
After the game Woodlesford's headteacher did admit that the best team had lost the game so the Methley players would have been justified to start feeling sorry for themselves. But they all went home with a spring in their step knowing that for large parts of the game they played the better football but luck just wasn't on their side.
The team will have a couple more training sessions before the end of the year & look forward to the Futsal competition at Brigshaw in January.

Exciting times ahead for the choir!!

Methley Primary School's Choir are pleased to announce an exciting adventure that they are embarking on Monday 8th of December. About 35 children are becoming performers at the Young Voices concert at Sheffield Arena. They will be joining a choir which will be about 5,000 strong and singing fantastic songs including a Disney medley, pop songs and a funky Rudolph number, not to mention the opera song which we have to sing in Italian!

We wish them all the best - They should all be very proud of themselves and Miss Fairfield, Miss Hulme and Mrs Foster will all be there to cheer them on!!
